morning, around 7.00 am, someone knocks at our
door. It's a group of children who came to
show us a puppy. It is between two and four
days old, black with a white stain on its
chest. The children found it in the street,
and say that if we don't take it with us, it
shall die of hunger. Urgent meeting to know
what we should do... alright, we take it !
                                   It was just born and
can't see yet. Franck has the very good idea
to put some milk in a balloon, with a little
hole in. The puppy is groaning, shaking its
legs, and swallow the whole content of two
balloons. We'll keep you informed of his new
                                  destiny.
By the way, what is the
                                  situation of the Ethiopian fauna?
                                   In this country, animals
are a special case. At the end of the fifties,
there are a myriad of animal species, all
around the Rift Valley : elephants, giraffes,
rhinoceros, lions, gazelles, and so many,
typical of Africa. But smugglers set up an
arrangement for trafficking in species for the
                                  neighboring national parks, specially in
Kenya and Tanzania. Today, Ethiopia has still
big crocodiles (6 meters long), in the Tana
lake, one of the biggest variety of birds in
the World, and a very rich flora (unlike the strangers
                                  think).
                                   This afternoon, we
finished our last day of school of the week.
In fact, Monday will be our last day in Meki,
we'll go back to Addis Abeba, and then Europe.
But we don't want to think about it. At 4 pm stands the
event of the week... the Meki Catholic School
Soccer's Final ! The Monkeys, led by Nicolas,
play against Theo's Zebras. A crowd gathers
around the field. The game is quite equal,
despite good tentative. But, after a quarter
of an hour, the Monkeys take a terrific lead
from the Zebras, goaling four times. The
Zebras are in a state of shock: the final is
over ! The Monkeys beat the Zebras 12 / 2. The
hundred of spectators shoulder high the
Monkeys, as Nicolas (the French) comforts Theo
(the Italian)... a story that we heard before

											| This show
is the stereotype of an American series (a mix between Beverly
Hills, Baywatch, Melrose Place). People are
catapulted right in the American dream: white beaches and palm
                                              trees, blondes driving dream cars,
                                              shops full of products, happy
                                              people walking in the streets...
                                              here people believe the Occident
is really like that ! Another lie
of our so-called developed world!   |

 In the

Videos of our mission in Ethiopia,
                                              the Car@van has deliberately
chosen to put forward the positive
                                              aspects and richness of this
                                              People. Therefore, we let the
                                              Third World's difficulties in the
                                              background. But
we still live in a World where 3
billions of people (half of the
Planet) live with 2 USD per day,
in which 826 millions people don't
have anything to eat, in which 30
thousand children die every day of
                                              diseases that could be easily
                                              curable. | | |
											| Today,
there should be a strong political
                                              will (and economical) to finance
                                              and develop research and
                                              innovation for development. The
                                              main problem is that technology
                                              producers (especially the pharmaceutics'
                                              and electronic
                                              industries) respond at the moment
to wealthy consumers, more than to
                                              the poor ones... There
should be a real arbiter of the
                                              World, an neutral institution that
would care of the balance between
                                              countries and of the same

                                            week-end in Ethiopia. Tomorrow, we
                                            will visit Donnie's village, a
friend we met in Meki. Ten
                                            kilometers from the city, towards
Gano, there are children who never
                                            saw white people. We'll absorb
the odors and colors of this magnificent
                                            part of the World, to
share it with you, Virtual ! Unlike last
                                            week, we'll be in Chat
                                            Sunday night
at 8.30 pm GMT to discuss the world
