Your decision to visit Lesotho (see Vote n°4) was very appreciated by the Car@van. We feel like finding the whole of Africa in a little Kingdom big as Belgium, Completely surrounded by South Africa, Lesotho is however very different, by its landscapes and human relationships.
Perched between 1000m and 3000m, it is also called 'the Kingdom of the Sky'. Between the magnificient plateaus and the snowy peaks, stands Mount Thabana-Ntlenyana -3841m-, the highest point south Kilimandjaro. In this way, the Team and its nomads train to look far...very far.
The people we meet seem very curious about us. In the rural zones, we communicate with gestures. They welcome us in dignified ans simple huts and proudly present us their big family. There, you can feel the unique human warmth of Africa. Every situation is still an adventure; from Vale's animated negociations to the big rounds with kids, from Aleko's musical gig with a young street artist to Theo's billiard game with a village's champion...incomparable moments that enrich the Car@van's experience.
Aleko, woken up by hunger and coldness: today, I feel like a wolf
Gudo: my therapy: watch the fire, the sea and the stars
Rezia: tonight, massage for everybody
A stranger: Africa is the warmest place on Earth
But, besides travelling, what are the Team's daily occupations? Maya and her inseparable cameras films the events and moments of the daily life. Marco manipulates technology, from computers to telephone plugs, from CDs to GPS. He creates the Journal's page and, with Maya, spends long nights to edit the videos.
Vale is nicknamed 'Herculine', for her strength and logistical determination. She sprints with her little feet in the most unlikely places of Africa. She does evrything for the best: food, accomodation, transports, places to transmit... And when something is wrong, chocolate as much as one likes.
Aleko, our red elephant, organizes events and cares of animation in the special moments (see orphanage, New Year's Eve, Townships...). He writes a weekly paper for National Geographic France and is also in charge of our public relations.
Theo - 'The Boss' - coordinates everyone's work and try as helpful as possible. Between his lonesome spirit and his sense of humour, it seems he has found his cruising speed.
And do you know why we do all this?... for you, virtual nomad. And the real nomad, what does he do? Join us, you will discover it!
We will leave, not the mysterious but fascinating Kingdom of Lesotho. Back in South Africa for our last days on the Continent.
Translation of Marco's interview: 'My name is Marco, the one they call 'The Cyber'. I hope that after you have seen this video, you will understand ther is nothing like cybernetics in me!
I'm only the one who cares of the more technical aspects of this adventure. If you succeed in watching and hearing me, it means I do my job properly.
If you can see me but you can't hear anything, check your audio plug in!
The last thing I'd like to talk to you about is if you can hear me but you can't see me. In this case, go on the Forum and read how to download our videos.
If you know anyone who can't see me or hear me, then please allow him to come at your place and use your own computer!
I got to leave you now, I still have a lot of work to do. Bye!'
